Story courtesy Mirror-Democrat

It's official - Metform is coming to Mount Carroll and bringing 25 new jobs to town.

Metform has purchased the former Dura Automotive facility on South Jackson Street and is currently revamping the building to suit its needs.

Bob Bulman, former mayor of Mount Carroll, and John Swiech, president of the Mount Carroll Community Development Corporation, have worked with Metform representatives for nearly a year to negotiate the purchase.

"Northwest Illinois has been an outstanding location for growing our business in 2005 and beyond," said Rob Whitney, vice president and general manager of Metform. "Gov. Blagojevich's Opportunity Returns program, along with the City and the Development Corporation of Mount Carroll, have been excellent partners in achieving our mutual objectives.

The State's support will help Metform purchase the facility in Mount Carroll and expand its manufacturing space by 53,000 square feet.

The new facility will be designated Metform Machined Components (M.C.) and will be focused on secondary machining operations for high volume automotive transmission and suspension components.

This new facility will be operated as an addition to the two existing Metform operations located 10 miles away in Savanna.
